Cockapoochis

You must be wondering what a Cockapoochi is. Its what happens when a Cockapoo and a Chi-Spaniel make babies. Still confused? Me too. I snapped these of my mom's 8-week-old litter the day before they all went to their new homes. We were all a little sad to see them go, especially my own little pups, Juniper and Everett. Theres nothing in the world quite like puppy breath!

Sister Heap | Balboa Park, CA

This was a special shoot. Lindsey was leaving the following day to serve an 18-month-long mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Forth Worth, Texas area. Some of her brothers were out of town so her sweet mom, Amy, booked me to shoot just the girls in the family (obviously, beauty runs in the family). Their excitement and love for Lindsey as she embarked on this adventure was so contagious I got a little teary as we were talking and laughing and traipsing around Balboa Park. I've told her this before but I'll say it again, Amy knows how to raise truly incredible kids, and I would like her to please teach me everything she knows! Thank you for inviting me to take these special photos, and thank you all for being so incredibly photogenic!

Spencer-Gossell Family | Mount Helix, CA

This family is definitely the coolest. They moved into their beautiful mid-century modern home only days before their baby boy, William Hemingway, was born! I was invited in a few weeks after his arrival and had a lot of fun hanging out with them and their other little red-head, Francis (don't they have the coolest baby names??). William was having tummy troubles that morning and wasn't in the mood to be put down or sleep for us, but I love how bright-eyed and alert he looks in the images. He is probably already busy thinking incredibly cool thoughts. Thanks for a fun morning, you guys!

Drew & Family | Balboa Park, CA

 

The entire adorable Lippa family came out for Drew's senior portraits so that we could shoot a few of everyone together. I love that they did! Every time we do a session together I'm impressed at what amazing teenagers they've got. Does anyone else marvel at this whenever they see it? I want to know all of their parenting secrets so that I can raise me up some fun, talented, and good-looking kids, too! So congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Drew. And go Valhalla!

Jonas' Birth | La Jolla, CA

What can I say about this amazing day? I haven't been able to shoot many births lately because of my own young babies and my husband's work schedule, so the stars really aligned when my dear friend Heidi was scheduled to be induced and I was able to be there. Obviously she handled the entire thing with unprecedented grace and beauty, and in less than 2 pushes, if I remember correctly. I mean, come on, she is radiant. I've photographed almost a dozen births now and each time I've been completely overcome with emotion, but that sweet baby boy was born into a room so overflowing with love and laughter that the joy we all felt witnessing it was incredible. It is always such a privilege to be present at such a sacred time in a family's life. I would shoot births every week if I could!

Aaron & Melanie | Windansea, La Jolla, CA

Welcome to the new blog! After a period of full time baby awesomeness I am really excited to be back sharing client photos with everyone!

I am loving this dreamy beach shoot with my dear friends Aaron and Melanie. Such a handsome couple. And doesn't Melanie just epitomize sexy beach hair?! Seriously. As parents of 3 (with 1 on the way!) they wanted me to photograph them before a special night out so that they could get some romantic pictures of just the pair of them. I love that idea! It was also so fun that they found out earlier the same day that she is pregnant with another boy. So congratulations again on the new little fella, I can't wait to shoot his inevitably gorgeous face, too!
